Video Camera

So I’m taking a page out of Carlos Whittaker’s book over at Ragamuffin Soul. He asked for some suggestions on a good point and shoot camera and got what he needed without the hours of research. “What a great idea” I thought to myself.

You see with a kid on the way, Rachel wants to get a good video camera to capture the moments. And since I love shooting and editing video, I’m lovin the idea. But I have no idea what the good consumer models out there are. Any suggestions to save me some researching time? Thanks again for the idea Los!

I use the video feature on my little Sony Cyber-Shot a lot since it’s always handy in my purse, but for babies, I’d want something better. I’ll have a ga-zillion ten second clips to edit together somehow at some point! For now, they play on computer. I’d want something that automatically orients whether I’m shooting portrait or landscape (if that’s possible) without waiting on the computer to do it later…takes a while.

i was told once the Canon XL2 is good. but you might look funny carrying it around all the time, as well as your kid might start thinking that it is always on TV. Which could just be preparing them to become rich allowing you all to retire early. Or have deep psychological problems with the phobia of cameras… SO your choice.
