Why Are You Reading This?

So I've never really considered myself much of a stat ho.  Yeah I check my stats.  I'm curious.  And I like to see big numbers.  But I've never done major pushes to try and increase my stats.  I probably won't do that much either.

At the same time, though, people blog for different reasons.  Some just want to have a place for a few family and friends to see some pics, and that's cool.  Others feel like they have something worthwhile to say and want to have some influence, and more readers means more influence.  Either way, to a certain degree, we blog because people read it.  Otherwise, this is just some journal in my computer and there's really no need to put it online.  It can just be like the end of a Doogie Howser episode, recording my reflections and learnings from the episode…errr…day.

So I thought this week, I'd think a little bit about who's reading, and maybe try to learn what I can do to move to the next echelon of blogdom.  Sort of like breaking through a number barrier in church growth.  And get to know you all a little bit better.

So that being the case, I have a question for you today. Some research.
Why do you read this blog?
What are your favorite posts?

Let's be honest.  Even on our favorite blogs, there are posts that we just glaze right over in our RSS feeders.  So what are the posts that you enjoy the most here?  When you see a new post from My Worship Revolution and you go to click on that feed, what are you hoping might show up.

And Mom, I already know.  More of Caleb.  ;)  So the rest of you, what do you like to see?  Just curious.  Thanks for sharing!  (hint, hint)

Your turn.

It’s funny that you blogged about this because after seeing your comment on my blog I was thinking the exact same thing. It really surprised me to see your comment. I wondered who else might be out there reading/ lurking secretly. I admit I definitely have been a lurker on yours, Rachel’s and even Megan’s sites. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you guys in the flesh. I love reading about where the Lord has taken you two in your marriage and family. I also really like reading about what’s going on in your church. I find it very excouraging seeing God’s work being done all over the world. And who can resist watching lil Caleb?

I read it to see what you and the family are up to. I love your videos (except the church worship service ones…..sorry……they’re too long) I also like to hear your thoughts about certain things. I like to see all the get-togethers you have with people. It’s amazing how many friends you and Rachel have and how many you stay in contact with. OK, if you really want to know, I read it because I’m bored at work!!!! Just kidding!
    Love ya,
    Aunt Linda

Since you’re one of my fave people, I read to get a window into your head…to see what you’re up to and what you think about it. It’s also a link to some of my other favorite blogs. Caleb’s a big draw too.

I read it just to see how you guys are doing in life. I do miss you guys at Rev.

I read because I have to. It’s kinda like a part of a wife’s job, isn’t it – to read her husband’s blog?!?!
But honestly I read it because I like to. And I like to know how you think about things and what is going on in your mind. It’s fun.
And I read it just cuz I like you. :)

For posts like the previous one on your visit to a church. I think the first post I ever read of yours was when you visited one of the Saddleback services (I think). Anything you do about your worship leading role…I relate to that stuff.
I also like watching your kidlet grow up. :)

I hate it when you can read my mind. The first thought that crossed my mind when you asked why do you read this was to catch a glimpse of Caleb. Glad to see you got home safe and sound. Love you guys!

I read it so I can know what you are up to. Although you are far away, it doesn’t feel like it. My favorite posts involve your family or thoughts on how we “do” church.

I like your posts about your church. That is always interesting to me to see what others are doing out there. I love the videos because I used to live there and I like to see the area now and then.
Your little man is so cute too.

Mostly, it is to see what you are experiencing in life and ministry. As a fellow minister, trusted friend (and Young American little brother), your input is valuable to me. The shared experiences can save me a bunch of time learning lessons you’ve already learned. And knowing that you aren’t limited to the Christian bubble – and in fact, try to go beyond and find the good stuff everywhere, I visit to appreciate what you usher into the light. I am a homebody and don’t go out (at least, if I can help it). Your blog brings elements of the world I’d want to incorporate into mine – and share with my friends and church family. So that’s it. You rule – this is what you were after, right? Kidding.
Oh – and maybe by posting regularly, I can earn a coveted spot on your blogroll. But who’s checking?.. every day?.. twice..?
