I heard Bill Handel speaking on this same topic. I am saddened as I look around and see so many people making up their own religion. I think that we are making things too easy on people. We have become so "seeker" friendly. I don't think we are challenging people in what a "REAl" relationship with Christ looks like. I think about the Jesus movement in the 70's. How cool to see something like that happen again.
I'm rambling, sorry, too much swirling around in my head. Just wanted to comment.

Closer, maybe, but still not very close. I think there's things that can be done differently, especially at denominational levels. But I still think we weren't made to do the faith journey alone. That's what church provides, and it is needed. Even with all it's blemishes, the Church is the bride of Christ and we HAVE to meet together, for community, worship, accountability to each other, learning together, serving, etc. But that's a whole nother post altogether. Or series of posts for that matter.

I don't think America is losing faith at all, quite the contrary. Almost everyone I know has a deep rooted faith and they are not ashamed to share their faith. I think the traditional religions are too judgemental and intolerant. They insist their way is the only way. I believe just as strongly as you do but I think I can pray and live my Christian values whether or not I walk into a building every week. BTW I hate meet and greet and will probably never attend any church on a regular basis until they stop doing that. I find it disingenuous!
When I read your blog it almost sounds like you're getting closer to what I have been saying to you for years. I'm sure I must be misinterpreting what you're saying though.
