Like I said, it’s not necessarily the idea of sharing a bit that bothered me. A big part of it is the “we have to have an altar call” mentality. Did United do that? just wondering.
Plus, to tell the truth, Leeland had just done a quick run through the sinners prayer so we’d have “everyone in the room saved” so it seemed like a bit much to o it again. The guy was just a pastor at the church and had no real connection to the band.
If there’s gonna be sharing, I just don’t think it always has to be an altar call when it’s not a very evangelistic type of event and it could be a lot more effective to hear sharing from the band or someone tied to them, such as Louie Giglio or Mike Pilavachi at said concerts.

i see your point…a full on sermon may be a bit much, but i don’t think it’s awful to share a bit…and btw, i have seen united, and they did share as well

Well, it was free. And to be honest, I don’t even have a huge problem with there being some message. Go to Tomlins concert, you’ll hear Louie Giglio, go to Soul Survivor, you’ll hear from Mike Pilivachi. It’s more about the audience and what you’re sharing (and unfortunately how interesting you are sometimes.)
Again, I guess I just don’t feel like you have to share the gospel and get em in at every event you host at your church.

Right on Bobby! If I went to see a concert and was served a sermon on my dime I would resent it. Perhaps a pastor with delusions of grandeur. If on the other hand it was a freebie then he has the right to preach if he so insists. I donâ€™t think it will get the fence sitters to come over very soon, in fact, it may just send them running in the other direction. The whole thing was in bad taste and I’m sure it left a bad taste in the mouth of many.

I agree with you about the gathering thing. There is a time and place for the gospel and there is a time for us to gather as believers and just celebrate God. I think I could go either way on this one.
BTW, I’ll be at the United concert. You and I will have to hook up if you make it. Also, IM me about the TTL thing. I think I might be in on it with you guys. Sounds great.
